Oh, totally. One of the 'side effects' of retirement - Because I don't often have to do things anymore; I've become something of a procrastinator (aka lazy sod).

Well, that's just it: I've come to conclusion that I do. When I was working, I was always active: Cycling to and from the office, 'desk hopping', crawling around under desks threading cables, lifting servers in and out of racks, and even just walking to the shops to get some lunch, to name but a few. Now I mostly potter around the house doing what I want, when I want, and only if I want. ... It ain't good for me and I need to change my 'routine'.

    That: I can't argue with.

Assuming no injuries or disabilities preventing you, start walking, work up to a few miles/day. Start doing the McGill Big 3 for your core (https://youtu.be/2_e4I-brfqs?si=9-qHvpNr61sGKzgB) and bodyweight exercises, like squats and push ups - lots of routines online or I can help you. There are push up variations to use, like wall or bench push ups, until you can do conventional push ups. If you add a kettlebell, you have a complete home gym.

I work primarily with people in their late 50s up to 70s. No matter how old you are, you can improve your level of fitness.

Nope... and that's why I'm a bit annoyed with myself - I have no excuse. I've just gotten lazy. I've put on a stone and a half (about 20lbs) since April 2022 (when I retired) and weigh more than I've ever weighed. I don't like what I see in the mirror !

Some chain squats from earlier in the month here. Buffalo bar, 318lbs bar weight (I have old non-calibrated plates), 55lbs chains each side.

    Nicely done!

    8x 45 on plates, 2x 25

One plate on each side is a thick bumper plate to dampen noise if I drop lol

Supposedly a 45 lb trap bar according to the gym, but I too think 30. I calculate using 30

This! Once I approach 1rm, I use chains to get me close without overdoing a workout

Also very easy to shed, because my strategy involves repping on the way up with good breaks. On the way down I shed quickly and single rep down. Only break is shedding a chain or plate

Don't forget cardio! Even a little can make a big difference!

For me it is usually a stationary bike. It is easier on my knees than a treadmill

What got me going was the little stay at the hospital. Now I very much enjoy it. How quickly perspectives can change.
Got some new toy since this weekend -- the Garmin Fenix 7X (already shown in the "WRUW). Now I can listen to my podcasts on the go and leave the cell phone at home. Very nice. But of course I slightly overdid it and had a little knee pain (the left knee is obviously still a little messed-up from 2 years of Taekwondo from 15 to 17). So today only some light cardio with the wife and tomorrow probably 40 minutes of elliptical which is a bit less strain on the joints and I can keep it up longer in the optimum heart rate zone to burn actually more calories than I do when running. Might stay on the elliptical this week altogether and start running again next week.
Nice thing is -- I alreay went down from 110kg (242 lb) in the fall to 97kg (213 lb) today.

Thanks . Luckily I had already lost quite a bit of weight before I went to the hospital. And another 6 kg since then. I try to not lose weight too fast. Basically not changing the diet too much but doing time restricted eating only between 1 PM and 7 PM.
And this was the last 4 weeks of running. (on Sunday I have Lindy Hop practice with my wife and we do cardio together once a week)
    Cheers, Sedi
