Picked up the CX-5 this weekend. This is a photo from the internet, but we got the Grand Touring Reserve trim which includes, AWD, turbo, heads-up display and paddle shift option. First car with air conditioned seats too. The interior is sweet. I looked at the Signature top trim, but the only difference was Nappa seats, a 360 degree camera with parking sensors, and real wood trim on the interior...not worth the $2000 premium.

Despite many dealers not wanting to discount (due to the chip shortage and supply) I finally found a couple dealers willing to negotiate. I ended up at $2700 under MSRP, which despite the current climate is not too bad. Overall happy with the deal.

Same color to match the Miata (my wife's choice, I was indifferent but leaned towards the white). Her car, her choice though. Now we're matchy-matchy

Pretty impressive acceleration for an SUV, but I'm used to the Honda Element 0-60 in 12 days

Congrats on the new ride. Was it tough saying goodbye to the Element? Some friends have owned them over the years, they loved them.

Thanks, Wayne. I kept the Element.

    An even better solution.

I'm not sure if I posted here, but a friend grenaded the engine in his E63 wagon getting too aggressive with a tune.
I don’t know about a Model S. If I were being driven around, I think I’d want to be driven in a big **** off SUV. Nothing so big that climbing in and out of it is a pain, but it should be like a Range Rover or an Escalade, something like that. Range Rovers are famed for their comfortable suspension (which is why Top Gear would run them as tracking cars, it was easy to get steady shots out of them) and the ingress and egress of an SUV is very natural thanks to the high roof height and chair-like height of the seats. Maybe I’d want something as indulgent as a Phantom or an Arnage T, but I like the idea of being driven in a Range Rover.

Is there anything you guys would consider in addition to the M235i? Bear in mind, I’m not too concerned about practicality, but wouldn’t mind something a little more practical than my Z4. I won’t budge on it being a manual and it must be RWD or AWD. I’d prefer a sunroof if it’s a fixed roof car.

GTI? Maybe a G70 if you want something a little bit bigger.

Budget? How old? Do you want something CPO or still under factory warranty?

GTI is FWD and I'm done with that for now. Maybe in the future, a little 500 Abarth would make a nice runabout, but it's not what I'm looking for right now. The G70 is a bit of a wallowy thing, isn't it? Wait, is the G70 an Infiniti or a Genesis? I forget now the Infiniti changed all their names.

Remember, I'm not a family man and nothing like that is on the horizon anymore and I drive a Z4 roadster right now, so almost anything is a step up in practicality--but I don't want to go too practical. This won't be used in the school run.

I'd like to get something 2014 or newer (something with navigation and/or phone integration, backup camera, parking sensors, et al) and $30,000 or so. Less is better, but it's a flexible budget. CPO isn't necessary, but it's cheddar if it's new enough for that.

I've also given some consideration to the Golf R (worried it'll feel a bit mundane compared to my Z4, no sunroof in the latest model) and the TT RS (somewhat rare and increasingly out of budget with recent market spikes).
