How do you identify if a case is any good when it looks like this?

Ach I can feel myself being sucked down a path I don't want to go down. *digs heels in*

Well my question is: is there a vendor somewhere with a big pile of Seiko cases and a big pile of Seiko dials, in reasonable condition, to whom I can make enquiries. I'm really good at (a) writing emails (b) making PayPal payments.
I'm just a boy standing in the rain asking a market to sell him something. (Have I got that quote right?)
Would this question get a more helpful answer in the vintage section?

I thought I would come to the place Seiko modders would most likely see it![]()
