True, but what part of this is untrue? Will there not be a multi year waiting list? Will Rolex not make incremental changes(Like a smooth bezel or different dials) and continue to raise the price to challenge the other brands? Since it has a Platinum model at launch with the sky blue dial it's pretty much here to stay. There is no sky blue platinum DJ so it's set to challenge the other watches at multiple levels. One thing I recently learned was Rolex does platinum for much less than anyone else over gold variations. Right now it is about $5K over the gold model for Platinum across all the watches it is available on. Other companies charge $20K or more to move up to platinum. Love it or hate as it is today it will become something less controversial. I recall six years ago when the Tiffany Blue OP and the other color were released. I was one of the few who liked it, and ran right out and reserved one. Now nearly everyone has done a watch in this color. The thing that is cool about integrated bracelet watches for top brands is each has a character of it's own. I see what Rolex did with this design language, and it is encouraging that they may take a few more risks on future models and updates. I predict this will drive up the price on the Oyster Quartz watches with this design. It also shows that Rolex has a way of bringing back the past and making it cool again. They did it with several models successfully like the 1908. The one point I disagree on is them abandoning the integrated bracelet watch. There wasn't even a integrated bracelet category until six years ago even if other brands had one here and there. I think it was more them abandoning quartz watches and with that the case style they used for it. While doing something new and outside the box what better time to bring back something from the past and make it all new inside and out. It may look a bit like the watch below, but nearly every bit of it is new.

Nomos did make that announcement today - Club Sport Word-timer. Not for me, but interesting design.

Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Looks similar layout as Zurich Weltzeit (DUW 5201), world time outer ring and 24-hour display at 3 o'clock, but this is totally new movement (DUW 3202).

I like the looks of Weltzeit much more, this is not my cup of tea.

I agree - a much more pleasing design. I feel almost like Raza when he says "it's as if they are trying to design a watch I won't buy" - maybe not that bad, as I still feel great fondness for the Nomos design language, but somehow it seems that they are straying from their strengths. I don't want them to stay the same either. You can't redesign the Tangente forever. I'm still holding out for a 38mm SS Lambda... yeah, sure.

A bit over the top, but quite lovely nevertheless. I might wear it, maybe once a year.

I like both. I think the new one is more sporty and could be an everyday watch, where the Weltzeit is less everyday and more office/dress casual. That is reinforced by the 100m WR on the new model and the 30 or 50m on the Weltzeit (I can't remember and I'm too lazy to search). The new movement has good specs and packs a lot in a thin package, but it's interesting that it's not a free sprung balance.

I'm no expert regarding the strengths or weaknesses of different regulating methods. It's a pretty movement to look at, though. Also attractive is the range of color choices they show. Quite a sophisticated and also playful palette. Still, to my eyes, there is a certain mess about the dial that doesn't seduce me.

Yup. The Nomos design language is only just peeking through. More than most, Nomos does have a problem ‘working’ their signature designs. They can only be added to, really, and then bang goes the purity.
