I mean, if Rolex wanted to design a watch specifically so I would have zero desire to buy one, they nailed it. I don’t think that’s what they were going for, I think that would be a weird business model. “Hey, I need you to do design a watch that this one snobby nerd will hate. We can do everything but a Lange-style misaligned double date, so really go nuts”. That would be a strange meeting.

    Nice Maen Manhattan homage.

Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

It’s real? I see from Googling that it almost certainly is.

Blimey. It looks like one of those Tudors that is in the catalogue without anyone noticing. And the name… Groundbreaking movement though, by the look of it.

I saw one poster on a Rolex forum saying that he would buy it if it was platinum, but not if it was steel. I don’t know how some people think.

The name is monumentally stupid, yes. We’re all land dwellers, none of us live in Atlantis with Aquaman.

As for the rest of it, I hate the dial, I hate the bezel, I hate the bracelet. Not like Rolex to jump on the integrated bracelet trend, but I guess they’re doing the latecomer thing more often now, like making the Submariner bigger in a time when everyone else is going smaller.

I mean, it’ll sell truckloads and fill wait lists, no doubt. But that’s just because it says Rolex on the dial.

It looks quite thin, that’s probably the best thing I can say about it.

You forgot to say you hate the fact that they kept a 6 and a 9 instead of just using indices everywhere since there's neither a 12 nor a 3. Or maybe that's just me.

And the fact that it’s just the same numeral flipped upside down, so it has that same “Hey boss, we made too many of these numerals and I don’t know what to do with them” feeling that the Air King had when they made too many Explorer numerals and glued them hastily on top of an observation dial.
