Took the weekend off. Ate OK, not too badly.
Back at it today. I think I'm going to shoot for 4 this evening.
Eric has been out of town, and we've been not great at recording our numbers. Eric gained while eating in South Carolina for a week and I'm not going too fast. Nichole is sort of holding. We've got to be better about keeping track, but it's basically herding cats.

@Spooky
Very nice! Go for it!
Here's how it worked for me -- started running at 227 lbs. First only went on the elliptical until I no longer thought I might have a heart attack after 5 minutes. When I could go about 3 km on the elliptical I switched to proper running. First 3 km, after maybe one or two weeks (need to look it up) I went 5km -- then 7 then 10k. And I have been sticking with 10k ever since. Reached 176 lbs after about 6 months and have been at that weight ever since.
What worked for me was a SLOW transition to forefoot striking while running which after a while eliminated all knee pain. But I did get shin splints at some point. I used a little massage roller thingy to get rid of it.
I still run that same distance 6 times a week. On sunday I have dance class with my wife. One hour lindy hop, one hour balboa.
I feel fitter with 48 than I ever felt when I was in my 20s.
Unfortunately I had to take a little break due to some non running related health issue. But I am back at it.
It's still super fun. I'd run more if I wasn't afraid of injury.
I also tested a ton of GPS-watches and settled for Samsung, even though they might not be the best when it comes to accurate heart rate, but the average heart rate seems good enough. They just sometimes record some heart rate spikes while running that are not really there. But the smartwatch features are top notch. Far better than Garmin.
Of course for Apple users, I'd go with the Apple Watch Ultra.
Cheers, Sedi
Since I already had an iPhone, the apple Ultra II was a pretty strong choice. It has some bonus features that I didn't really need, but the exercise tracking has been very useful. Interesting to see how my heart rate changes over the course of a session.
Went a touch over 5 miles yesterday. Lately I've been warming up by walking a mile, often with an incline, and then jogging at least 5K. Reason being, this fall when there's the city's "fun runs" Freyja wants to do a 5k instead of just the mile run. (Better prizes/etc) It is my intent to keep up with her.

I'm envious.
Whenever I've run consistently, I've wound up injured. IT band most often. That's with modest distances 2 - 3 miles and not much sprinting. I've never found a form of cardio that's worked as well for me as running or that I enjoy as much.
The slow build up is the way to go with any exercise.
