it annoys me in some way mean drive really fast make a lot of money for yourself and you get knighted (they are doing it for them selves the money and the fame.. not any other reason ) when you see some of the listing it makes it like it don't mean anything anymore ..like we got to give x many each year so lets see who wants to pay us ..or whose poplar etc etc ... they don't mean jack ...any more

How is Lewis Hamilton’s knighthood different from Sir Stanley Matthews’ knighthood in the 1960s, except that he’s received it before retirement?

it's not.. just don't see how knighting sports , star etc is worth while or what it was first set up for ... think it takes something that once meant something and cheapens it ...

Instituted in 1917 by George V, the awards were created during World War I to reward services to the war effort by people not on the front line.

I agree that brain surgeons and pediatricians should be knighted over sportspeople but it ain't gonna happen so...

Precisely. Not to mention Lewis most likely is favoring red these days as his color of choice.

I thought knighthood, now that, you know, no one suits up and rides horses anymore is more of a ceremonial and meaningless thing, kind of like the monarchy. A neat thing that some people like, but is largely inconsequential and just for show. I think Lewis Hamilton should get 5 knighthoods.
