    Do you know what kind of mushroom they are? I have done a little research (Googling) on mushroom foraging myself, but I didn’t recognize the one you picked.

    I have been a mushroom collector for almost 30 years, and we are in bolete heaven here on the coast. @geoffbot has actually seen where we moved three years ago. The hills here have a perfect blend of coastal live oak and Monterey pine to host my favorite edible of all mushrooms, Boletus edulis aka porcini, cep, steinpilz etc. I have been collecting over 10 kilos each autumn since we moved here. Yum!
