Look on the bright side. You will soon be prepared to wear a Rolex in London in confidence! LOL

Never bring jujitsu to a knife fight! Kickboxing seems more useful of anything, I used to do that (but tkk hurty).

Trying to figure out gyms in a new area is always a challenge

Need a good family gym with lots to offer

Also want a local grunge gym, which is where I prefer to lift. I tend to make a bit of noise on squat and dl, no one cares at a grunge gym

That's huge. Big accomplishment, congrats!!!! What was the progression today? Was it after sets or was it the goal and you just worked towards it?

Thanks! Today it was actually not in my plan.

    15 minutes bike, varying resistance
    Progressive leg extensions on machine
    - Both of the above to warm up knees

    Squat was:
    135x10
    225x6
    275x4
    325x2
    375x1

Plan was originally to stop there, but 375 felt far better than expected. Possibly due to work travel pushing me to take a few days off this week (recovery)

Set the stops in case it proved to much, put 405 on, managed 1 clean one!

I did stop there though, as it took a lot out of me. Transitioned to next exercise, rack pulls

Are you following any program? You should deload after a PR if you aren't peaking for a comp. (IMO!)

I was following a program that worked for me pre-pandemic.

Agree on your recommendation, will be backing off the weight and shifting to a higher rep plan now with more functional fitness included. 405 was my goal, not aiming higher. No interest in blowing out my knees . Let's face it, I have a desk job. Another 20 or 30 lbs on the max has no benefit

May do a competition next spring, but no chance (or intent) of winning. It would be for the experience and to see if I could hit 1200+ between the three lifts for personal satisfaction. At my weight, that is not going to even podium in a natural competition

What was the program? Something you found online?

I wouldn't worry about knees. As long as you're squatting properly, there is very little danger to your knees. You're 100kg/220lbs?

My best lifts came in my late 40s, so there is time to put weight on your lifts. As a Masters II lifter in USPA, I hit 1296lbs at 192lbs bodyweight and that's ok for a state competition, especially if you're a Masters I or II lifter. I was 30th overall out of 90 lifters with a 384 Wilks score. 501.5 squat, 288 bench, 507.1. dead. I was shooting for a 525 dead, but missed my 9th lift
