Ahh, well, Geoff, next time you find yourself in a Spanish tapas bar, try a bit of this firm pink quince jam with a little slice of Manchego cheese. Heaven in a bite - although I forget if you are vegan or simply vegetarian? Somehow I don't think the combination would taste as good with tofu or cashew "cheese", but at least the membrillo is vegan. You could certainly enjoy it on a crispy biscuit or on toast in the morning. Quince smells like a perfect blend of apples and roses, and in fact it's closely related to both.
Too many watches, not enough wrists.

I've hardly baked at all since spring. Nice to have the first loaf of bread in more than six months turn out proper. A simple bread flour, rye and whole wheat peasant loaf.

Broccoli raab grown hydroponically, breadcrumbs from a loaf like the one above, dried hot peppers from the garden plus some locally grown hard neck garlic. This is one of those wonderfully simple Italian dishes that wastes nothing. Par cook the raab in the pasta water before cooking the pasta, mix in the pan you fried the bread in and use a cup or so of the raab/pasta water to finish the dish.

Went to a local burger place with the family. Hatch green chiles make a perfect level of spice on a burger for me

Then some avocado coconut ice cream to cool it down
