Correct. Not sure I've ever seen one in the metal. Deffo not on the streets. Either the mk1 or mk2 Ford gt (and deffo not an original gt40)

As of a few years ago, my local Ford dealer still had an unsold first gen Ford GT tucked away behind ropes in a dark corner of their Hyundai showroom. 100% markup.

It’s remarkable how much supercars have changed since that came out. I know it’s video games, but in Forza, the Ford GT is an A-class car—meaning that it’s behind basically every modern supercar in performance; even a 2009 Corvette ZR-1 is rated as an S1 class car. A is more like everyday sports and GT cars, like the Lotus Emira. You see these monstrous power outputs on modern supercars and you very much begin to think “What’s the point of all that?”

I can’t think of one other than “Mine’s bigger than yours.”

Statistics show that 99.999% of hypercars never make it out of the garage let alone to the track.

Exactly. All those pompous ferrari owners never driving them, and waiting to resell them

I honestly feel like cars like the Emira are going to be the saviors of the driving enthusiast. They’re the Johnnie Walker’s “Keep Walking” of performance cars. No need to boast about numbers and bring out the magazine stat grids, the Lotus just keeps driving. It’s not about that. And, unlike the Elise and Exige, it can be driven comfortably on the roads and has ingress and egress that doesn’t required a numbered sequence and a gelatin spine. I’m in my 30s now, I’m no longer interested in pissing contests; I don’t do anything I do for anyone else, it’s for me.

Even if I weren't fortunate enough to have an Emira, I would still agree whole-heartedly with ^^^ that.
... except for the part about being in my 30s... I wish.

When I was a senior in high school at the Carlisle Auto Show and market I could have picked up a pretty decent Pantera for about $3.5K (They were under $10K new) with a 351 Cleveland in it built to the Nascar specs at the time (late 70's). It looked like this except in silver (Which is my least favorite car color)with a very simple interior. From selling my first car (Olds 442 W30) I had more that enough to buy it. The rear tires looked like they were a foot and a half wide. There were pictures of one in a magazine that had a Johny Player Black and gold paint job and wheels which was my desire of what to do to the car. They we're more than a bit crude with highly marginal build quality so I passed. I must have gone by and sat in it 200 times that day. Now looking at what I could bolt into it engine wise, modern coil over suspension and do other things to fix the inside and redo the wiring. Would be a very cool car that would not bother me taking it out of stock like other cars would. Seems like bringing one back as a kit car which was pretty much what they were would make sense. It is still a great looking car. What the GT40 would look like if Italy built it. I would take this anyday over an AC Cobra.

There were also several GT40 there that went for a bit more, but not a lot more (maybe $2K). Probably could have stored away 4-5 of them in pretty good shape and the Pentara for around $20K. Definitely one of my fantasy time machine dream trips.

I was driving to the post office this morning and I spotted a car that tuned my head. It was another Jaguar F type roadster with the top down. Does it to me every time. My my, they are so good looking. Probably one of my favorite modern cars, along with the Emira. This one was a very dark green with a brownish reddish leather interior. Perfect!
