    The owner was appropriately scruffy too, but I didn’t feel able to snap him.

    Ha ! That takes me back : A long time ago (around '79), my (then) boss had one and he gave me a lift home a few times; probably the most unsafe I've ever felt in a 'car'. Bloody awful thing; you felt every ripple in the road and felt like it would tip and/or roll in every corner and roundabout.
    They only sold as many as they did because 'you' didn't need a full license and could drive them with a motorbike license; same with Reliant 'Robins' (Plastic Pigs) and the like.
    Some people have opinions - The rest of us have taste.
