Cars I'm considering to replace my seemingly cursed m4

M440i (dark colour so you can't see that grill. Maybe aftermarket vorsteiner option?). Auto only annoyingly, but drop top at least

    No 4cyl or Mustangs, @geoffbot.

If you’re looking at 911, I’d get the newest you can afford.

@geoffbot, I had an Elise for nine years. Eminently impractical but more fun than a barrel of monkeys. I had an aftermarket supercharger on it so it had a lot more low end than stock. Came alive on the track but was entertaining on the street, too. Got tougher and tougher to get in and out as I got, erm, more mature. Not a practical daily driver IMO but the ultimate fun second car.

How about a 4 cylinder mustang?! Mustangs are rare in the uk therefore cool. Unlike in your land of course.

Thats the problem - newest 911 with less than 50k miles on the clock I can afford is like 2010

Yeah. The fabric roof isn’t going to stop a hard rain—in fact there’s a sticker on it warning you! The hardtop (if the car has it, it was optional) is solid but can’t be stowed in the car. Also it helps to be a member of Cirque de Soleil to re-attach it in the back.

OTOH, if I ran over a credit card with that car, I could give you the number…

    Still miss that car.

Mustangs are awesome, especially this generation and the previous. But they have to be V8s. Can’t get a Mustang that isn’t a V8, there’s no point.

As for 911s, raw power doesn’t really matter. They are much lighter than comparable cars and because of the engine placement, they have massive traction off the line. And, frankly, power is only one small part of how well a car drives or how fun it is. I’ve driven supercharged V12 monsters and Ferraris and not one has come close to the driving experience of an S2 Lotus Elise.
