“I owned a Porsche, it was a Panamera” is like saying “I owned a Porsche, it was a Cayenne” or “I owned a boat, it was a dingy missing an oar”. Sure, that’s technically true, but it doesn’t really follow the spirit of the words.
I love my Z4, but I do miss my Boxster S sometimes. I think about replacing my Z4 with another Boxster every once in a while, but I really have gotten into FR sports cars. Mid-engine has a lot of advantages, but the Boxster always rewarded grace more and the Z4 is happy to be rougher around the edges. These days, I don’t even know what I’d prefer. The ride in the Boxster is hands down better, no question. And these days, in my rapidly advancing age, I’ve come to enjoy the cruise almost as much as the push. Sometimes I wonder if I’d be happier in something like a BMW 3.0CS, draped in style, with nothing to prove.
Throw in a stereo that supports CarPlay and I’ve got everything I need, really.
