Thread: The cars and bikes thread!

My son got hit by someone last week trying to make a left turn from the right lane. He went off the road and totaled his 2014 Subaru Impreza (which was in great shape, and low miles). He's OK, which is the main thing, but he needed to look for a new car. He's not a car guy (apple fell far from the tree ) and just wanted another Subaru...but there are none to be found due to the chip problems, supply problems generally, etc. He looked where he was (GA) and we looked here in IL, too--nada.

He was able to snag what would have been my first choice for a small, reasonably priced sedan, a Mazda3 Turbo. Surprisingly, they didn't try to gouge him although there wasn't a lot of negotiating room off sticker (it was the last one they had). He's picking it up on Monday. Happily the insurance check for his old car will pay for a good chunk of the new one.

That stinks, but good to hear he’s OK.

    Sent from Maxwell Smart’s shoe.

Glad he’s okay, first and foremost. And unless he needs AWD, the Mazda3 is a great choice in that class, it would likely be my first choice as well.

Thanks, and aha! It is available in AWD this year for the first time, which is what he's getting.

Yeah Mazda is killing it lately. Very happy with the Miata ND and the new CX-5.

Bummer. Probably don’t need AWD much there, especially not compared to the US Midwest.

I had a first gen Miata, a 1991, for 12 years. Stick, no power steering, wonderful car. Mrs. Cor made made me give it up when the kids got old enough to ride in it (no passenger airbag).

A snazzy alternative to the Fords and Vauxhalls of the day, and much better built. Cheaper, too, I think.

I had a Mazda 626 afterwards, which was excellent but dull.
