Made a variation of my normal bagel recipe. Half the yeast, salt and sugar, added a bit of gluten and lengthened the boiling time. The good- chewy, good flavour and pretty quick to make. The less good- they didn't darken as much as I like nor get as shiny and they rose more than I prefer. More molasses in the boiling water next time, a minute more on each side of the bake and I might try halfway between on the yeast, salt and sugar equation.

Next- the current world means I am not ducking out for some cream cheese etc. So Mrs K took some mascarpone and blended with chives, capers and lemon juice. No cold smoked salmon or even lox but I had some leftover beet cured steelhead trout that I made a while back.

Is there a vegan alternative for blue cheese. Any potato leek/ asparagus/cauliflower/ broccoli soup situation rises to an entirely new level with the introduction of even the crappiest blue cheese on earth. If there is an alternative, I highly recommend it, even if you don't like blue cheese.

Thanks. I'm not vegan in Turkey - not possible really. I try and keep my dairy consumption low but could consider a nibble of the blue stuff...

The Madame Jeanette seeds finally arrived the day after I started so they are in the seedling starter too now. Next up will be celeriac, then squash and just a couple weeks before planting the radicchio. My hope for the peppers is they will be filling gallon containers by the time they are ready to go outside.
