I took advantage of amazing weather in NYC early this afternoon and took a brisk walk. Two laps around the Central Park Reservoir plus the walk to and from the reservoir totaled about 4 miles and took about an hour. I used to run on that track, but I get too many nagging injuries too often to take up running again. At the moment, I’m also too heavy.
I hope to to keep up this regime regularly (and increase time and distance on occasion). I’ll also start to break up the walks with some brief intervals of running to get my heart rate up. Hopefully those intervals will not unduly stress my aging tendons and ligaments.
Next, it is time to turn my attention to strength training/core strength and flexibility. I don’t foresee returning to the gym any time soon — so I need to look into things readily done at home.

Back is hard without weights, a resistance band or a pull up bar. Do you have either of those?

Can't hurt buy I don't see how it can build muscle or burn fat. You nerd reps for that. I'm sure it'll make you good at planking though.
