For every 10 listed as a manual, only 1 or 2 actually are 3 pedal cars. It is annoying.
Have you looked at M4s? With a couple miles on them they are sub $40k. 2015 2 owner clean carfax 44k miles $39k - https://tinyurl.com/tvyye7r
The M4 is actually the car that sparked that post originally. I was looking at convertibles and nearly every one was a DCT; only found one true manual. And I got quite miffed, because I saw this white one that looked fantastic and I wanted it and then it was a DCT.

It's not just Autotrader here. I use cars.com, cargurus.com, autotrader.com and truecar.com when shopping. They all have issues with sellers and dealers marking sequential transmissions as manuals.
I have been shopping for a 997.1/.2 911 S for the past few months. I've driven almost a dozen cars, each of them were manual transmission (not all were C2S, some were base C2, 1 base C4). I haven't driven any M4s, but I've seen at least 6 3 pedal cars I've seen in my search for a 911. Have you looked at C7 Corvettes? Lots of 7 speed 3 pedal cars out there for reasonable money if you're looking for a hot 2 seater.
I did a search on '15-18 manual trans M4s under 200 miles from my house. Several were marked incorrectly, but these were confirmed by pics. A mix of coupes and convertibles...
