Turns out it was either the by lead or coil that caused the bike to cut out. I shouldn't have to deal with this crap on a 8 month old bike.

I think I'll have to cut my losses and get rid of it asap

Surely this has a warranty ?

Besides if this is/was brand new when you bought, you should throw consumer rights act at them - ‘not fit for the purpose’ etc

    https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rig...mer-rights-act

Have they attempted a repair already for the same fault ?

Anyway Chuck it back at the retailer, and also throw an email at the manufacturer.

I'm in Ireland but the consumer laws are pretty similar. I was brand new when I bought it and it keeps having different faults, I've had to get it towed in twice.

I'll definitely be having a fight with them when I go in to collect it to get the most money back

Oh dear sorry mate. Chinese bikes can be a hit and miss I gather, some are perfectly fine. I just hope they will cover it in warranty.

From memory years ago some H T leads were plastic strands with graphite coating . In use the graphite used to breakdown and cutout. Changing to copper core fixed. Guess trying to save costs , poor decision. Could be the prob. But , as you say , when no confidence it becomes a liability. Agree , get rid asap. Sorry to hear anyway, Is it common with the model btw

All my research before I bought the bike only shows minor issues so I think I might have got a Monday morning bike.

It's putting me in a pretty crap position I'll probably have to buy a 20 year old bike instead

Many say an older jap bike is a better package than a new Chinese one. Sure you could afford a ybr or something?
