It is the sport, not the touring.

Don't get my wrong I love the Apple Car play, dual climate zones, park hold. It's more like presetting how the AC comes on (just top vents or top and floor vents, etc..), auto high beams on/off, do I want the doors to lock 15 sec after I leave or 20 sec or 25 sec....

I'm starting to sound like an old man.

Active cruise has improved hugely, and in the AMG, it’s definitely useable. Blind spot monitoring is also nice, as are all the cameras and sensors for parking. What don’t I like? The car has a “steering assist” feature that actually “helps” steer in turns by looking at the road lines with its cameras. Thank heavens you can turn it off and leave it off—I found myself fighting the wheel with it on, as I disagreed with how much turning should be done. I also don’t think I will turn on the “driver alertness” feature...

I finally am past the 1000 mile break-in period, so once the roads dry out, I’ll be able to see what the car is really capable of.

One other comment about all those systems—they all get disabled if you’re driving in snow and the cameras and sensors get dirty. I worry about how people who rely totally on those systems will be able to drive competently if they’re not working.

My generation was probably the first to learn how to drive on cars with traction control and stability control. Loving cars and driving, after I got my license, I went out on my own to learn how to drive without them. The generation after mine doesn’t really give a shit about cars, so I don’t see a lot of people turning off all that stuff and learning how to do it alone. My friends’ kids will probably never learn to parallel park if they don’t have to do it for their exam, because cars will just do it for you.

I can’t be bothered with phones when I’m driving so have never linked a phone to a car. I’ve also never walked down the street apparently talking into thin air, and find it a bit weird when I see others doing it. I have heated seats but never use them. I use the built-in sat-nav, parking sensors and cruise control - and that’s it. I have about a thousand albums on a memory stick for car music (and no music on my phone). I have never used Siri. I delete FaceTime so that nobody can make me use it. I’ve never taken a selfie or photographed food. I don’t like connected things, really, and I don’t like being plugged into things. One exception, though - I like it that my phone and iPad keep each other updated.

Oh, and I hardly ever click on links that mean I have to watch a video.

Although, gotta say, I disable Siri (et al and its equivalents) , I disable/delete FaceTime and shudder when a video call ever comes up via any platform, I reject the call always.
I don’t do selfies , but I do photo food/chocolate/etc to wind my girlfriend up.

This I also find very weird , very weird.... the same to people who hold their phone horizontally in front of their chin when using it as a phone.

    so Hi there fellow curmudgeon

Mine will parallel park or straight in park for you, and un-park itself too. Not that I’m likely to do any of that, curmudgeon that I am. Apparently, from looking at the manual, you can also have the car park itself through its app on your phone—when you’re not in the car. I can’t find the setting for that in the car itself, so I suspect that feature isn’t available in the litigious U.S. Just as well, as I’d be tempted to try it just for the hell of it.

My generation is the first to start modifying computer controlled cars. Back in the 80s and 90s, all the gearheads cheered on the demise of hotrodding because of those pesky computers that they didn't understand. Their prognostications were wrong and now these computers have ushered in the golden age of HP. There are still young enthusiasts, don't plan the demise of gearheads yet. They're still being born. :-)

They spent like 40 minutes configuring my Ridegline with me at the dealer. So I know what you mean that there is so much configurable. Even between models it's surprising what one has while another does not. My truck can be put in entry mode so the seat goes back when you open the door, and moves forward to the preset depending on which key you have. My dad's 2018 CRV Touring Elite does not have this but the Accord he also test drove did so he was a bit disappointed by this when he got it home. He just assumed all Hondas had it. He needs it since he wears a support boot on his one foot so it makes it easier to get out. I actually turned it off in mine since I only use the truck when I'm hauling something above the F-Types capacity or we are going out with friends and I'm driving. With people in the back, it's not good to have the seat motoring back into them when you open the door.

The one thing that I did not like is ApplePlay on my truck does not work wireless and you must use the apple cable that came with the phone(or an actual apple cable not a 3rd party). I had a Hyundai rental car last year that the ApplePlay worked wirelessly. Luckily the truck has a rubber lined area in front of the shifter for the phone to rest in.
