I really want one of these (and can afford to switch) but I hear terrible things about reliability :-(

MV Augusta? I never would have guessed they wouldn't be reliable.

Apparently it's more the unavailability of parts to disti and dealers that means you have to wait 3 months to get your bike fixed. Inevitably over the only 3 months of summer we get.

The good thing about paying £170 a month for my bike is that I don't mind paying that for we which means I can keep getting new ones. Like a car lease.

    I guess the MV is £300 p/m ??

Isn't the £170 a lease on a particular machine though?, don't you have to keep it for the full term ?

It's not actually a lease - it's a pcp with a low rate personal loan payoff hack. I could get the mv for £170 a month. Or just swap my mt in for a preowned one at identical value... Most dealers offer a 1 year warranty so the only difference is the 2nd year.

Generally not as much as you think. Since it's tucked in the faring you may have to deal with the headlight mount and the mass of cables and wires for the instruments. The moded one seems to have done away with the instrument pod or went to one of those thin digital tachometers that race bikes use. It might have some other gauges but those are not so easy to adapt. They seem to have moved, removed or cleaned up many other things including the faring mounts around the engine and tanks. Generally, these bikes do not come away looking like this by just taking the faring off. Look at one that was dumped or wrecked sometime with part of the faring missing, and you'll appreciate how much was really done to get from the original to the cafe racer. It would probably look more like a praying mantis with just the faring pulled off and not in a good way.
    Cheers,

    Michael

Don’t know if I’ve ever posted this before, but this little rally car is what I drive when the Z4 is unable to brave the conditions or when I need to drive my mother (who can’t comfortably get in and out of the Z4) or my brother (who is afraid of the Z4) or more than one passenger. Put a few hundred miles on it this weekend driving to Pittsburgh and back.
