So, I have just completed an agonizing, excruciating one month process getting Mrs. Cor a new vehicle. She views the shopping and buying process with the same enthusiasm as shopping for and buying a toaster, or a washing machine. Maybe less. Not a car person at all. She has bought Toyotas for the past 25+ years--two Camrys, an Avalon, then two Siennas. Now, I have nothing against Toyota from a value or reliability point of view--they are, in fact, excellent toasters. But fun isn't in their vocabulary.
She decided she wanted an SUV (progress there, at least), and over the past month we have looked at everything under the sun, from Toyota to Mazda to Jaguar to Acura to Lexus to Audi to Mercedes etc. For a while she was quite interested in the Jaguar XF Sportbrake, and it made the final list (which excited me, I'll admit, compared to all the other choices). But at the end of the day, she decided on the Toyota Highlander after all, IMO the dullest of all the choices. Oh, well, it's her car, not mine, and certainly beats another minivan. But the process was fraught with angst.Luckily it won't happen again for a long time.
On a happier note, I'm looking at replacements for my car, which is way more fun...
