There was other stuff too, but these were the important bits.

Very nice. I was going to ask if that was a pitcher of sangria, but I don't see any fruit. What was it?

I didn't drink anything at dinner tonight, expecting a workout with my trainer tomorrow (I've gone after having as few as one drink and it's been a nightmare, so I never drink the night before), but he cancelled. So I just hat Diet Coke. But the place I went--Amada, formerly a Jose Garces restaurant--is famed for their sangria.

It was a 2015 Upper Bench Cabernet Franc rosé; dry and crisp. Upper Bench is just north of the US border so it is hot enough that they do light reds quite well. I like both their pinot noirs and their Cabernet Francs, as well as their blends made from those two wines or their rosés.

Formerly a Jose Garces restaurant? Does he open and sell on a regular basis? I have not eaten at one of his restaurants but from watching him cook I am pretty sure I'd like his food.

He just sold everything. It's still Garces Group, but he's out. He's a great chef, but a terrible businessman--they were either bankrupt or on the verge of bankruptcy, and I'm fairly certain there was a diversity suit against him.

Those two things often go hand in hand.
