It is totally OK for you to not know what an acorn squash is. Acorn squash are indigenous to Central and North America. That puts Boatme's Kroger girl more or less in the heartland of the acorn squash.

By the way, it is a delicious starch.

Acorn squash is a winter squash. A good quick side dish, acorn squash halved, seeded, filled with a tart jam or jelly like apricot, cranberry, or lingon berry, baked and served with roast meat.

Mmmm... especially roasted (sliced in half and cleaned of seeds) with some butter and five-spice, and a hint of brown sugar. Even better is kabocha squash, done the same way. One problem these days is that fewer people cook, and if something doesn't show up in a fast food menu they have never heard of it. That's a true shame.
Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Yum, on the Asian influenced acorn squash. Kabocha is my go to for Jamaican pumpkin rice. I can't get Calabaza out this way. My pumpkin rice is vaguely similar to this one.

Rhubarb and raisin pie. Mrs. K makes a nice pie crust.
