Ugh! There's a Mini S with manual transmission from the nearby dealership in a color I want (Volcanic Orange), optioned just the way I want, with nothing I don't want - in a word, just about perfect. Back several weeks when I test drove one (not this one, it was blocked in) the salesman said nobody wants the manuals. He was shocked I wanted to test drive one...
Now that I want a Mini, I pay more attention to them on the road (law of attraction, I guess) I think they look cool (despite what my wife thinks - she calls it a clown car), but I saw a Volcanic Orange one the other day driving down the road and it triggered an emotion. It just looked cooler than all the rest, which solidified my want for the one sitting on the lot.
So when I can get this Audi settlement situated, I thought I'd just head over and make an offer on the Orange Mini. It's been sitting there untouched for months. I've been driving by the dealership to make sure it was still there, like 5 times or so in the last three weeks... I almost considered just buying it sooner and applying the money from the settlement when I got it towards the loan...but I didn't.
Well wouldn't you know it, they sold it this past Sunday to somebody from Virginia who did the deal online and came down to get it. Probably somebody just like me who really wanted the manual in that color. The nerve
I talked to the dealer on Monday and said he would check inventory across the country... No dice on any 2018s in MT in that color..None!!. Damn it! And to make things worse, they discontinued the color for 2019. Double damn it. I even asked if Mini could do a custom paint on a 2019 - nope. I don't see why not, but whatever.
I'm really upset about this. I had it in my head that car was already mine...
