Well, it’s no Ferrari. Plus the steering wheel is on the wrong side.

Just checked and, wow - I could totally afford* an Aston Martin. What's the reliability, servicing and parts cost like? And do they lose their value? Like a 2006 v8 vantage or db9 with 30k on the clock already.

I have to rely upon what I've seen reported anecdotally on the web, since I've only put 7000 miles on mine in two years. Reliability generally seems to be average to above average, certainly not below. Servicing isn't cheap, but not in the Lambo category--the local dealer here charges $1300 for a regular annual service, which isn't much more than oil change and other similar standard stuff. I suspect parts will be quite expensive, but whether they're significantly more than, say, genuine Porsche parts, I couldn't say.

There's a fair amount of depreciation, however the wild card for Vantages is that there's a brand new one out that looks very different from the old. Many don't like the looks of it, and even though it has much higher performance, it does it with a turbo rather than the old naturally aspirated V-8 or 12. So it's possible the previous generation might hold more of their value.

It's hard to find the manual versions here in the States, and the alternative is an automated sequential manual, which I have. In the newer cars with the second version of it, it's not so bad as long as you keep the car in sport mode and use the paddles. Doesn't work well in "drive" mode and I never use it.

There's an AM forum at 6speedonline that's pretty good and has lots of folks from the U.K. on it--if you're serious, I'd look around there.

Funnily enough, the only one I got to see up close and in person was a (rare) manual. Was at a British car show.

You know what they say, it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Ha! Maybe one day soon. I read that they need new clutches at 40k miles. And they're 3k a piece. That I can to afford
