One thing is for sure, in my opinion, Volvo have come long way in the styling department since my Dad purchased one in the 70s.

Dad had a 244 DL for about 6 months before he traded it because he thought it had no power!

    Congrats on the new ride!

The new Volvos are nice. We're about to turn in my wife's XC90 and I'm thinking of a V90 or S90 to replace it.

I bought hers the month it was released and it was a trouble free car (43k miles so far). Their software updates for the infotainment and power train along the way all worked and improved on a good thing, too. Coming from Germans, we had a good ownership experience.

I hope yours is trouble free and fun.

James May had an 850R for the more recent Top Gear Africa special. One of my favorite Top Gear episodes, for sure.

A big part of my knows I shouldn't attempt to afford running an m3 etc so therefore I should get a 2l 4x4. Everyone drives them these days, and considering the 22k a year miles I do a nice armchair might be an idea.

It would be a nice winter car for me. Right now, I’m driving the S4 when there’s snow and rain and ice, but I really don’t like not having a manual. Plus, the S4 isn’t all that practical, anyway. Small trunk opening, small door openings. It’s good for normal things like groceries and the occasional Home Depot trip, but anything larger than a medium box can’t get into the car. The X3 would be much more practical, plus an SUV with a manual is just cool. Sets you apart from the soccer moms.
