Sigh. For the past 12 years, I have had nothing but company cars. Before, it had to be a ragtop or with a sunroof. But companies don't like to spend extra on company cars. I am surprised I have alloy wheels on my current steed. My choices of color vary from boring to really boring. That said, the money I do NOT spend is lining the nest egg quickly.

But when I retire, the top is going to open up. Whether I get a ragtop or one with a sunroof. It's going to be brighter inside.

The new civic does look mental, but they always have. Pretty rude. Then again so does the jcw mini - what you've said above about sums it up for me. Personally I would choose something more refined/grown up looking like the golf gti, which is also a lot of fun to drive.

Just crack the windows in addition to opening the sunroof, problem solved.

Although I admit to never using the sunroof on my daily driver, and my other car is a convertible...

I'm too pale to use sunroofs or convertible tops, unless at night I even had my tint guy darken up the pano glass on the roof of my V wagon.

In my 10 or so years of owning a fixed roof car, my sunroof cover was only closed on the day I got the car and when I would park it in the summer (close the cover, pop the sunroof, and crack all windows one inch and it takes like 10+ degrees off the interior of the car when you get back to it). All other times, there was nothing between me and the glass, even if the actual glass were closed.

Test drove a Mini S this weekend. I liked it. It was a manual trans, only two on the lot. They didn't have a JCW, not surprised. The extra money probably isn't worth the .4 seconds acceleration to 60. I have another car for that kind of fun anyway. This would purely be a funish daily driver that doesn't break the bank.

To those that recommended the GTI... nah. Can't do it. I just never liked the looks of those. Even though it's probably a fine car. I think I'm done with Audi/VW anyway. Time for something different.

If you can deal with the the supposed unreliability, the Fiat 500 Abarth is one of the most fun cars I’ve ever driven, at any price range.

Although, every time I see a Mini (a proper Mini, not one of the bigger variants), I want one.
