yes of course it is the lesser of the three domestic cups we know that -the various names attached cheapen it somewhat but its still the old League Cup and open only to the top four divisions -they were still playing Arsenal and basically thrashed them -we have the most important one in the bag already so thats two out of three - with a fighting chance of the Big one still !! that would be three out of four !!

In Kraków, celebrating United’s victory over Chelsea?

Strange one but I have to give credit to United for playing a bit more offensive football in the second half. The equalizer being ruled offside was a tough blow, but the call was so close that it's hard to blame the linesman. I'm still scratching my head over the game winner when Drinkwater left Lingard and ran to cover a patch of empty grass. As he ran away, he pointed at Azpiliqueta to pick him up, seemingly unaware that he was already trying to mark two men in front of goal. Honestly, Drinkwater should be a fill in for cup matches, but with Bakayoko turning out to be a huge bust he's been pressed into service. He just doesn't look up to the level of most surrounding him in a top 4 match. Also wondering about Hazard being subbed instead of a tepid Morata. At this point Giroud seems a better choice even with his lack of pace. On to City and Barca, hooray!

I always enjoy having a laugh at Arsenal's expense, but what's happening there now is just sad and pitiful.

what is laughable is that we dropped our guard against Wigan -perhaps that was another part of Pep's master plan seriously most teams would succumb to a rampant City team nowadays

Losing to City is not the problem, but it's how Arsenal as a whole is performing. They jettison players and bring in new ones, but nothing changes. Nobody seems to want be there other than for the checks they get to cash. Two wins in the month of Feb, and one of those was against Osterrung or something like that. Of course the one guy who does want to be there is lost and should have been protected from himself long ago, but the board is desperate to avoid looking to the future. It's sad that a whole young generation only see Wenger as an tarnished relic worthy of pity. Forget the days of winning the top 4 trophy, now the hope is to hold off Burnley and retain an Europa League spot. Imagine saying that in the days of the Invincibles!

Carra talked about it a bit, saw it on Twitter. It's true. Wenger shouldn't be going out like this--he's a legend. But I'm beginning to fear that this is what everyone will remember about his reign at Arsenal. Right now, you have to say that they deserve better.

Deeney still has a bit of hero left in him.

I’d be more upset about the clear red card that Newcastle got away with at the end of the game if we didn’t handily beat them. But the officiating this season has been garbage.
