That's the biggest issue. Range is already there for most of them. Being able to charge quickly, even just to 80%, should help with more people seeing them as primary or only vehicles.

Best will in the world anyone could forget to charge and run out of pwer on a trip in the middle of no where.
A normal can be up and running very quick with just a fuel can, no such luck with a flat battery. Could perhaps carry a charged powerpack of some form, although that prob. flat when needed too.
Hybrid charge themselves. Battery use in towns/cities. Much easier to use imo

When these are closer to 500 miles I'll start to consider them real cars. I look at it that if I'm on the fringe of mileage just to go see my brother in Orlando (228 miles) I would never feel safe driving it there. A 5 mile buffer is just not enough. Locally we are good candidates for electric vehicles since we drive very little if any on week days and stores and restaurants are close. I will just not have something that I need to designate my trip car, and my in town car. Having driven a few Tesla, nothing about them feels worth a six figure price tag. We'll see when the smaller one comes out. These numbers look very inflated compared to the Real Milage figures the magazines have published.

When I had my 2007 Mercedes D320 it would go over 800 miles on a tank of fuel. That is what I call a trip car.

You're paying for the technology (long range electric), the performance (it's a very short list of cars that can keep up with their max'd out dual motor cars to 60), and being one of the first to drive one on the roads.

I'm not sure to what degree. The golf gte has about 18 miles battery range and a 1.4l petrol that drives the car and charges the battery. On a 100 mile 70mph motorway cruise (my round trip commute) any idea how much would be done on battery?
