Just arrived yesterday. I have the tires but no time until next week to get them test fit and mounted.

A mock up to be sure I like the look.

And the badass center caps I got for the wheels.

Snow is one of the better ways to learn car control. Get out in a big parking lot and drift! Do you have summer or all seasons on your BMW?

My primary ride/snow car was an E63 wagon for 4 years - RWD/507hp. It was great in snow until it was higher than the front splitter/bumper. I ran Blizzak LM60s in stock sizes on the stock 18" wheels - performance snow tires are really good. They don't hold much power but they are good for the cold/snowy months here in the Mid-Atlantic.

As a commuter car, though, very useable.

Based on what I've seen on the east coast, you can probably drive most of the NorthEast -> FL in an electric without any issues. Midwest and some more remote western areas you'd be stuck We had to carry extra fuel on our bikes because we only have about a 200 mile range. That wasn't enough for some lesser traveled roads out west.

I didn't pay much attention to our last trip through the South and into Texas - I doubt remote areas have much in the way of electric charging infrastructure.

Summers on the BMW. My old Mercedes had all seasons and I did snow in that for a couple of years. I never thought much of dealing with RWD or even FWD in the snow, until one day I drove my brother's AWD Audi S4 in a snowstorm. 25+ miles through a snowstorm, watching spinning wheels and spinning cars, and I drove home laughing my head off because it was so easy. On all seasons, too. I was a believer since then.

Do love that E63 though. Did you have the rear facing rumble seats in the back?

I think they only offered the rear facing in the W211 E55 wagons. I had a W211 E55 (2006) but it was a sedan.

Ah, I didn't realize it was the newer model from the W211. I had a W210 E320 in high school (spoiled, I know). It was impressive--to others. My Volkswagen Passat that I had in college was half the price, built better, more reliable, and much more fun to drive! How was your Merc? I've sworn off the company, myself. Too many problems for the upside. But then I drive my mom's CLS550 now and then, and it feels buttoned down, sharp, good, like how a BMW is supposed to feel. Only Mercedes I can remember driving that didn't feel soft and floaty, AMGs included (but I think the only AMG I've driven was an S55 AMG).
