    Nissan Qashqai.

I don't expect you to follow this suggestion, but they're economical, refined and very comfortable.

I'd never given them a second thought, but my nephew had one as a hire car and it was brilliant. You have to avoid the 19" wheels, apparently.

My sympathies, then. My wife would no sooner drive my C220 than an Inter-City train.

Which is why we have to have two cars - her 'shopper' and my 'proper'. But actually, it would annoy me to readjust the seats and mirrors.

Where's your job, by the way? Fifty miles is a bloody long way - that would take you into London. I wouldn't fancy that every day.

A-Class Mercedes? The fuel needle never seems to move on those when I have a loan car. Quite civilised things.

Leatherhead. Its exactly a 100 mile round trip, which will take me 55 minutes. Current trip to Brighton takes 30 minutes and is horrible - 30mph the whole way. Then I have to pay £800 a yes parking and walk 5 minutes to the office. New gig is door to door. May be able to work from home after I'm embedded.

Ha! I recommended a Nissan first.

    An i3 would be fine.

Will you be able to plug it in at work? I read that the real-life range is around 124 miles. A bit tight if you need to drive anywhere once at work.

Or would you have one with a range extender motor?

Can the i3 even make it 100 miles without a charge?
