35% is the limit where I live. I haven't been hassled in anything but my Corvette for running 20%. I was lucky enough to have a friend who has a friend sign off on the ticket for me.

BMW is phasing out manuals on anything bigger than the 2 series. Cars are over.

Since cars are over, I've targeted this as a possible 2018 purchase:

Triumph Street Twin, part of the Bonneville line. 55hp, ABS, traction control. Pretty much all the bike I could ever need. Z4, Street Twin, and SUV is the target garage by the end of 2018. As long as my mom doesn't write me out of the will for buying a bike.

Yeah, I've been going back and forth on bikes for the last 15 years. But the state of cars is such that I don't think I'll ever be able to buy a new one for pleasure again. And at some point, my Z4 will be traded for a same generation Z4M, but then at some point after that, I'll have to come to terms with the fact that the Z4M will be the last car I ever purchase for pleasure. Motorcycles will be the final frontier for driving enjoyment the way cars are going now.

And I've come to the realization that I can buy a bike that I like and not kill myself by just getting faster and faster bikes. I'm about the enjoyment, not about sheer speed. My Boxster was quite a bit faster than my Z4, but I prefer my Z4 to drive. I like that retro/cafe racer style, usually with a standard seating position, so I won't be skinning my knees in corners. But I'd be riding around a bit when I want to save miles on my future classic Z4.

As for BMW, I think it was only for the North American market; though I can't imagine Europe is far behind.

My 125cc bike is infinitely more fun to ride than any car. Bikes are fun. Mine is for sake because I'm poor; when I have a spare grand I'll do my licence and get a big bike. Probably a ducati supersports. Maybe.

That's the dream. Daydream for a while - they're 20k. I'd settle for something less exotic.

Not shocking, really--inevitable. Used to be that manuals were more fuel efficient; now they are less fuel efficient than automatics (let alone, ugh, CVTs). The problem is even worse here in the States, they don't teach kids how to drive sticks. Eventually I think that even the enthusiast cars will no longer have sticks, it just won't be cost effective to manufacture them in such limited quantities.

Lots of purists/enthusiasts still like stick. Bmw is supposed to make cars for people who like driving. However, I guess the majority are probably diesel fleet cars for salespeople.

The power to weight on bikes is so much more favorable than all but the most exotic or built cars. And they're cheap for the performance.

    I ran a 9.7@146 1/4 on my 2002 Busa with about $1000 in mods. 6.2@116.9 in the 1/8.
