I can't think of a better looking sedan on the market. Gorgeous.

I live on the top of a very steep hill and a private drive. Never any issues with the AMG Benz.
Oh, I know RWD is doable. I've done it. My first two years of driving had some bad winters in a RWD E320. But once I drove my brother's S4 on all seasons in snow, I was a convert. It's just so crazy how snow doesn't even affect the car. I drove home in a blizzard and was just laughing because everyone was having problems and I was driving through it like it wasn't even there. AWD is just no worries when it comes to bad weather. Even FWD can be a mess. Did that plenty of times. It keeps going straight, but turning can be a problem.

But who wants to deal with the hassle of a second set of wheels, a second set of tires, deciding when to take your car to have the new wheels mounted and balanced, et al? And tires decay while they're sitting, so while you have one set on, the second set is still losing useful life when you're not using it.

You can get through just about anything in just about anything (minus the extremes). But the ease at which you can do it differs greatly. I have a fun, RWD sports car to drive 9 months out of the year, with the roof down, no less. AWD is just no worries.

W.r.t manual trans not being available, I heard it was due to crash ratings? Something along the lines that the clutch doesn't depress, so in a front/side crash it can cut through the left foot..
I think it's a marketing decision. People in the US don't buy manuals. I'm pretty sure Europe is getting a stick.

I remember reading a feature Evo (UK magazine) where they tested the Mclaren F1. The owner of the car came along for the test (it was long after the car was out of production). The owner told the tester something along the lines of "It has no brakes and no suspension, but I love it!"
