I'm sorry but mechanically they are two distinct gearbox systems/technologies .... directly connected conventional cog gearbox (or in the case of DCT , effectively two gearboxes) vs epicyclic/brake band controlled connected via a torque convertor (even if recent ones do have a lock up clutch).

On the end-user side of things, on the outside, to the general public, they may appear to be similar because they've got two pedals as opposed to three.
Like I said, I can tell the difference. But it doesn't make it more engaging to drive. It's more efficient, sure.

Sooo, my car just stopped working.
Super weird, no error messages in the dash - just the steering wheel locked up, ignition locked up and transmission locked up. Was working fine last night.
Had it to get it towed to the dealer, thinking it was the anti-theft immobilizer malfunctioning but the key code reset also didn't work. So I have to keep it there overnight while they troubleshoot tomorrow.

I also learned first hand how difficult and scary it is to try and get a car towed from an indoor parking garage.

Hey, Raza, was reading Car & Driver this morning and thought of you when I saw this quote in there in a review of the manual transmission 911 Carrera--they said that while the PDK is a great transmission, to manual transmission fans, the PDK is like watching two computers play chess.

Automatic transmission: Put one foot down, computer does the rest.
Auto-clutch transmission: Put one foot down, computer does the rest.

    Gee, so different.

OK, I'll take the bait. The automated manual in my Vantage still requires you to think about what gear you want to be in and upshift or downshift manually to the correct gear, just using paddles instead of a shift knob. Not the same as having to use a clutch pedal, but not as automated as a PDK.
