Read a story in Epicurious about the KFC-recipe and their apparent use of white pepper and saw this passage:
I was pretty taken aback. Is this a normal opinion of white pepper on the other side of the Atlantic?After all, who uses white pepper? It's the white sheep of the spice family, the oft-overlooked, much-maligned, pale simulacrum of the gutsy, robust black pepper we all have in our grinders. And around the Epi offices, its reputation wasn't much better.
Personally I use a lot more white than black pepper.
Yes, and that's putting it mildly.

I love white pepper, but I just don't find it to be as utility as I do black. I would prefer ground white pepper over black for something like a chicken breading or spice rub for grilled meat, but nothing beats tellicherry in the grinder for daily use on hatever I'm stuffing into my maw at the time.
It is now my duty to completely drain you.
