Yeah as a dedicated sun worshipper I hate it when it's nice weather and people have the top down.

I still have my 2002 XK8 (We bought it in 2011) that has just 35,000 (Had 28K when we bought it) on it. I'm keeping it since I can put classic car tags on it soon and we love this car. These are actually more usable than my 2013 XKR since you can actually fit a few suit cases in the trunk (With out using the shelf of a back seat), and it has a beautiful full wood dash not just a tiny strip of wood. You want a 2002 or newer since they do not have the plastic cam chain tensioners. If it is a convertible find out when the lines for the roof were last changed primarily the ones that go to the latch in the header(Google green oil shower on any Jag forum). If it's more than 6-7 years plan on changing them. Also try to find one with the clock and not the navigation since it will be way out of date and I'm not certain that they have new disks for those. We had a 2006 XJR with the 4.2 supercharged engine, that we traded for the 2014 XJR. It was solid and never had an issue...just regular maintenance. So XKR are reliable drive train wise, but the active suspension (CATS) scares me and part of why I got a naturally aspirated one. My wife and I still love to drive this one, and the newer R may be on the block for a Z06 or a F type R if a decent preowned comes up before I order the vet. We generally buy preowned which with the big dealers here (2 and 28 miles away, and we have bought from both) there are some good deals, plus we don't drive all that much mile wise since everything is close. Also check if there is a decent certified Jag mechanic some what close, since some of these take special tools and programs, and the dealer is more than twice as expensive for the same work as my independent guy. I do some of the work, but if you watch the videos for things like changing the trans fluid, it was better to let someone with a lift and experience do it(Plus everyone seems to mess it up the first time). We have the XJR for long road trips or guests which seem to be more often lately. Trips to the Keys are still XK8 or XKR only since your not going anywhere fast once your get past Homestead. I have no fear taking this one there and that is a 4hour trip (at mostly 40mph).
Oh try to avoid this interior color if you can. It is a pain to keep clean if you actually use the convertible top all the time.

I test drove one at the time I bought my Aston. Very different cars. The Jag was very nice, extremely quick, but felt heavier and more complicated than the Aston. Which it is, it weighs 300 pounds more, and has electric steering and suspension, while the Aston's are conventional. Not as nimble, but faster in a straight line for sure. Also much more modern creature comforts, nav system, stereo controls, things like that. Beautiful inside and out. Didn't care for the sports exhaust, though--too loud, backfires, very cartoonish IMO. A really really nice car, though--if I hadn't gotten such a great deal on the Aston, it would have been a tougher choice, but I still probably would have gotten it anyway, because, well, it's an Aston Martin.

I've never driven an Aston Martin, only rode in a few. My wife and I have discussed this for a while now and she knows I wanted something a bit more hard core than the XKR. I've been test driving things for more than a year, and I'm trying to not go too crazy. I set myself at trade/sell the XKR and a fixed dollar value. Pretty much we are down to the Type F R and the Z06. We have a great relationship with Jag and Porsche dealers a few miles from the house and they give us prefer access to select preowned inventory. We have gotten great cars with low milage at better than average deals from them. Lisa loved driving the Z06, but we would have to buy this new so the thought of a $100K Chevy is hard for her to grasp. We knew the Z06 will cost more to put in the garage. I don't think that will be a problem I'll have to deal with since the Jag dealer called ,and they wanted me to come see what they just got in. They have a 2014 Type F R with 14K miles, and every option. It is in my preferred color combo of white with red sport seats. I took it for a spin, but Lisa is out with some house guests, so she could not come before they closed. She will drive it on Thursday since they will have it in CPO prep. I'm concerned about the exhaust noise as you have indicated since Lisa only has some seat time in a mid level Type F. I'm pretty certain she will like it since she loves powerful cars, the huge brakes and other things that come with them(She drives the 550hp XJR more than the XK8) . So much so that I signed the XKR title and put the cash in an envelop for her to take to the dealer. I'm out of town until next Tuesday and will be surprised if it is not in the garage when I get home. She knows I want it, and it will cost us so much less than the Z06.

Looks sweet. The exhaust thing is easily solved by simply not engaging the sports exhaust button. Keep us posted!

Do your research on the Z06. There have been some serious issues with the new Corvette, as good and as exotic it may look. Overheating and some other stuff.
And, in my opinion, the choice of the F-Type range is the V6 Supercharged. Available with a manual, too.

Yes that is why I did not buy one last year. It has been reportedly fixed.
The supercharged six would be a serious down grade from the XKR ( both the XKR and the F type R have nearly 200 more HP). The Z06 is a hundred and change more. The S has several serious performance upgrades and is a far better final package than the mid level.
BTW they had a pre owned supercharged F Pace in CPO ( believe it was a demo).. Great place for cars here since we have the largest dealers of nearly every brand.
