    No, I figured out what held the crown back in but i couldn't get the movement to fit back in. The metal spacer that fits around the movement and sits over the top of the tracks for the inner bezels was fouling the movement and preventing it from sitting flat. After much swearing I realised that the movement should be placed in first THEN the metal spacer doh !
    Still, alls well that ends well I suppose.

    Jaysus if we lot totted up the amount we've spent since the thread started it'd be a pretty penny?!?

    indeed spacer can be a bugger some times got to go the right way to had one and it need to be flip over and go on first before the stem .. others that have to go when the stems in

    all fun of watch repair

    well know what third of my collections worth after having to sell it but least it defined my taste more now
