Ultimately It's not the dealer that decides , it's head orifice .... He will have put a request in , the dealer gets paid like a normal warranty job.

It's good that you partial pay towards it because now you have an implied warranty on the job... with a receipt

Well done chap, when I read your first reply , I thought Oh god he didn't try hard enough and fell at the first hurdle lol ,, but then smiled when I read the final outcome.

You can pay me the 10% by bank transfer ,........

Thanks. A few years ago I rode in an older Kia and found it very plastic, now it's of much higher quality. Of course they have also upped their prices a bit, but still under vw.

    Nice color!

We got a new Subaru two months ago and I'm still trying to get all of the settings figured out. I still have the owners manual sitting on the coffee table, but haven't finished reading it. I finally managed to turn the traffic updates to "less verbose" after becoming annoyed with it telling me there was a traffic jam ahead every 2 minutes. I found it a little grating because I was sitting at a standstill in that traffic jam for an hour and a half and I $#*% well didn't need to be reminded of that fact every other minute.

I can't believe they're still having issues with ignition coils. What engine does your car have?

If my old office is any indication, Kia and Hyundai have become the choices of young professionals starting out. At one point, 60% of my new analyst class had a Hyundai Elantra, all brand new, which they bought right after college. The companies are in a good position; if they do well with them, they build brand loyalty. I've had a Mercedes, two Volkswagens, a Porsche, and now a BMW, and the company for which I have the most fondness and will look to first when buying a car is Volkswagen, because those two I had really treated me right, the dealers and service people were great, and I really liked the way the cars drove. BMW has been fine, the Porsche was great, but I didn't have it long, and the Mercedes--dealer, service, and ownership experience--was a total nightmare and I'll likely never consider a Mercedes again. And I grew up in a Mercedes family; since 1982, my family has had at least one Mercedes, and at one point we had four. I've never had a good experience with them, particularly as a young person, where their service managers treated me with disdain for bothering them to get my unreliable car fixed, and utter condescension when they finally realized that I wasn't some punk kid and I knew more about cars than their average clueless customer. Even thinking about the service experience I had with Mercedes (and I haven't had one for 12 years, though I'd continued to get cars serviced, offering to help out my parents when I was living at home, in college and what not) makes me angry.

That sort of stuff sticks with people. So I hope the Kia does well for you, and I hope the dealer and service people aren't total dicks.

Really? I thought you got the GTI.

I wonder if the 1.2TSI is at all related to my old 1.8T.

That's the thing though, you never really know until the first issue..

Given how popular this model has been, the seller was a bit too laid back. He had no real incentive to really push and stay on top of things so communication was a bit lacking.
As far as service it should be good from what I've heard. Kia has their 7 year warranty which is good, but of course only if you follow their service recommendations and use their service centers, which apparently are quite pricey.

I really need to find the setting for the welcome jingle that plays every time I enter the car and close the door.

Saw this on my way to lunch the other day. What a gorgeous car! I mean, the Z4 gets looks and compliments, but no one ever stops to take a picture of it. People were taking photos of this. That's another level.

Ha ha. That would suck. But it's a cute little beastie, enjoy!
