I prefer cloth seats. I haven't had any problems with smells, they don't get burn you hot and they are more comfortable then leather in my opinion. Plus cars with cloth seats are more likely to come with less stupid powered options which I like (like stupid touchscreens. I hate touch screens in a car with a massive passion). The only problem I can see with cloth seats is if you are a smoker and want to re-sell. Now I would buy a leather seated car if it was one I really like.
My perfect car would be a rear wheel drive coupe with cloth or (preferable suede) manual adjustable seats, manual transmission, power windows, power locks, A/C (with knobs to control it), cruise control, a stereo (with knobs to control it), a big switch on the dash to turn off any electronic aids, with a wonderful sounding engine that revs to at least 8k rpm and enough room to be practical for daily use. No stupid auto adjusting auto turning on HID headlights, no heated seats, no terrible touchscreens, no automatic braking, no ugly ass strings of LED lights, etc.

Ugh. I know there are people who prefer cloth, but I just always assumed they were vegans or weirdos. To be fair to them, though, I grew up on leather. Most of the sofas in my house were leather. Non-leather seats were abnormal.
I am a smoker, but I don't smoke in the car, unless the roof is down. Not much of an issue there. I just hate the look and feel of cloth.
Whats wrong with power seats? I don't mind manual seats, but power allows more adjustment options and, if the car has multiple drivers, it's much easier to change the positions, particularly if they're memory seats.
Oh, and heated seats are essential. Without them, I wouldn't be able to drive top down below 45.

I would love to have memory seats. The Merc doesn't have them, but it would mean I didn't have to spend ages recovering that 'just so' position after handing the car over to mechanics and car cleaners.
Generally, though, I prefer knobs and switches to menus. It can be hard just switching radio wavebands in a modern car.
Weirdo probably applies well to me.I find I slide around more on leather in cornering as well.
Power seat take 12 hours to move into position and weight about one ton. Plus that is one more thing to break. I actually hate them even more in multiple driver cars. Whenever I get in my wife's car to drive it I have to wait for it to move to position when I could just grab a handle and move it in two seconds.
Basically I want as many things mechanical as possible and as few things electrical as possible.
Oh and I forgot another thing I hate about modern cars. Stupid drive by wire throttles.
Basically what I want is an Triumph GT6 with Honda reliability, a 8k rpm motor, modern crash standards, '80s Mercedes Benz build quality and A/C. Might end up settling for an NA Miata when the garage is done.

We're chatting at work: if someone gave you £260k to spend on a car (you get no change, can't sell it and don't have to worry about any running costs) what would you buy? That figure was the cost of a gt3rs.
