Okay, so this is Saturday night's dinner at Barclay Prime.

Started with some Peacock Cove oysters, ordered off the menu, because the ones that were on the menu weren't briny enough for me (neither were these, but they were still pretty good).

Then there was the steak. Dry aged prime ribeye, with truffled mac and cheese, creamed spinach, and beef fat fried potatoes. Cooked rare, of course.

And dessert was a warm deep dish cookie, made of three types of cookies--sugar, chocolate chip, and oatmeal--topped with house made vanilla ice cream. Chocolate sauce in the little cup there, good stuff.

Oh, and I almost forgot. At Barclay Prime, they give you a choice of knife. I chose a Porsche Design Chroma:

It sliced the steak paper thin. Wonderful knife.

Haha. I do use it in the winter. It was just nice enough that I felt the need to use it.

Glad you like it. I never did care much for the town and left in '96. But, and I mean But, count my lucky stars I lived within walking distance of this producer of golden nectar. I really miss that place!

One of the great things about a roast chicken is the endless possibilities for the leavings and the carcass. Tortilla lime soup this time.

Obviously, I haven't put the tortillas in yet.

Damn, your dad must be a mega baller. How did your apple fall so far from the tree?

Victory is one of my favorite breweries, if not my outright favorite.

Though you should try Philadelphia again. Much has changed in the last 20 years. My neighborhood that I currently live in, for instance, was a warzone 20 years ago. Now it's one of the most up and coming neighborhoods with highly sought after homes and apartments being built. The foodie scene here is basically second only to New York. And cost of living is still pretty affordable, especially compared to NY and SF. The only thing this city doesn't have is great Mexican. There's some good Mexican, but not great. Great Cuban, though.

I love this city. Can't see myself moving away for a very long time. The only other cities that I've been to that make me feel like I could live there some day are San Francisco and Los Angeles.
