Thread: Food

Fortunately I had eaten so many biscuits this afternoon that I felt stuffed at just the right moment. Promising myself the rest at the earliest possible opportunity helped too.

Doesn't get much more west coast of Sweden than tonight dinner.

Shrimp sandwich, with fresh shrimp, lumpfish roe, boiled egg, mayo, cream fraiche and dill. Would've preferred homemade bread but wasn't any time today.

    Pfälzischer Riesling in the glass.

White wine and shrimp is so common in Sweden it is even used as a euphemism. "You wanna come over for white wine and shrimp" . Kinda like inviting someone up for coffee

Standing at a fish monger on a Friday afternoon in Gothenburg and pretty much 4 out of 5 people will buy anything from 1 to 4 lbs of shrimp. Normally accompanied by a baguette and a chili aioli.

Probably the last lettuce harvest of the year. I also had grilled steelhead and some sourdough.

Lately I've been pan searing* about 3/4 pounds of cube steak, splashing it with a bit of Worcestershire or A1 sauce then covering it with two or three eggs fried over easy. Photos soon to follow.

*Let's call it what it is: frying. I used to pan sear..oh yes...I pan seared a lot...lots of nice pan sauces as a result too. I also made my own Ghee for Indian food and demi-glace from brown stock that started with many, many roasted veal bones. I only mention this to bring the crackpot factor down a notch or two.

Thanks Nokie. We get a lot of nice seafood here, it being a coastal city and all. And we try to make an effort on the weekends, food wise.
