Thread: Food

I won't queue for food, too many other options available. As for queueing for pizza....mass delusion.

I agree with DA, I wouldn't mind waiting half an hour in the bar before being seated, but queuing for a restaurant? No way. Plenty of other choices

    This was yesterday's dinner:

Smoked Salmon, fresh Tagliatelle with chanterelles and a sauce made from cherry tomatoes with a little cream.

I guess a little tax evasion helps the bottom line.

The cash only thing is widespread here, unfortunately, and mostly accepted, or just acknowledged as something we have to put up with.

Cash only. I am sure they don't have to worry about paying any taxes.

Oh, I see you beat me to that Ryan.

The place that served this dish is my ideal type of place.

It is utterly without pretension. I ate that on this crappy deck

That particular night was a slow Saturday, so the staff was packaging the restaurant's energy bars in the middle of the restaurant and best of all that whole meal, including wine flights , taxes and generous tip was barely over $200 CAD for two.

Ooh, that looks delicious. Chanterelles and salmon go perfectly together.
Too many watches, not enough wrists.

But that they have national recognition, it's going to be hard to keep doing that.

There's a pizza place, recently named the best pizza in the country by some magazine, that's near me. They sell 40 pizzas a night. No delivery. Pickup only. You go, you wait in line, and you hope to get a pizza. People start waiting in line an hour and a half before it opens. Once they sell 40 pizzas, they stop. People wait in line for hours and never get a pizza.

They have no phone. They're known for not having a phone. So you can't even call to find out if they're still serving.

It makes me want to go get a bunch of those $5 crap pizzas from Little Caesar's and just throw slices at the chumps waiting in line, begging to be accepted by another fake velvet rope.

Of course, there is a decorum and there are manners. But snapping a discreet photo of your food--cooked and plated with great care, no doubt--is not something that should bother anyone. If I put something together that was so good people wanted to share it on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, or whatever, I'd be happy and a little proud, not annoyed or indignant.
The attitude of this pizza place sort of reminds me of this guy....

    Good pie though?

Even a broken watch shows correct time once or twice a day. I ought to know, I have a few!
