Thread: Can we build a list of watches with 2892 movements?

  1. #21
Union Glashutte use a bunch; unsurprisingly as it is a a more expensive Swatch brand.
I go on about the Noramis watches being nice but that is because they are. Side by side, you can see they put that little more effort into them compared to Longines.

You mentioned modules but how about other actual variants?
The Hamilton Navy Pioneer uses a 2895 which is essentially a 2892 with a sub seconds.

    As for the TAGHeuer offerings.
If you specifically want an ETA one, don't go for them
Part of the reason for the TAGHeuer use of the Calibre references is because they use a mix of movements for the purpose; be it ETA, Selitta, ETA with DD modules, ETA with ETA module etc.

I don't want to confuse the issue (so feel free to move this to a different thread) but Ebel also used ETA 2894, which is a ETA 2892 with a Dubois-Depraz chrono module, as their Cal 126. This was found in the automatic Brasilia chronograph models (ref. 9126M52)

and in the Classic Wave chronos (ref. 9126F41)

Ebels (lots), IWC, Omega, FC, Eterna, Tag, Invicta, Movado

Since I've seen how much they're used in conjunction with a chrono module I'm wondering if it might be sensible to attempt to track that after all

I might've missed it but the usual suspect is the Omega 1120, which is a lightly breathed upon 2892.

There are/were some very pretty classic dress style watches in the Deville line that used it; unlike what the WUSers would have you think, there is more to Omega than Seamaster and Speedmaster.

Is that very 2892-y version of the 1120 still in production?

    ahh, right.
    no.
they're all co-axed now but the 2500 is still just a 2892 with the Co-Axial.

but yeah, just mentally going through the 2892s that I'm after regardless of new or old.
just so you know, most of the older actual TAGHeuer chronometer watches were 2892 but they predate the A2 variant so materials-wise, they not the same.

Yeah I haven't dared try to think of its history, just trying to fathom whereabouts in the market its available. In its unadulterated form, that seems mostly to be in the watches of slightly niche producers - Ball, Ebel, etc.

I suppose given the market today, there's probably much more need for it as a the basis for a chrono that isn't an 7750 than as a suitable movement for a slim dress watch

My Baume and Mercier Capeland XXL has a 2892. Dont know what they were worth when available but I know I paid more for it used than it was new!

H20 also offers a 2892 movement upgrade (limited supply) from the std 2824 for the Orca dial module. I have 2 of them
