After flying to Missouri for my father's/her son's funeral, my sister and I spent a week with our grandmother in London. She lived in Chingford and my grandfather followed West Ham. Somewhere in an unopened box from a previous move is a team-signed game ball. On the way to her house, we stopped in a pub and she insisted I get a bitter with her. This was after a non-stop flight from St. Louis and clearing customs, so I was exhausted. That pint of bitter with my grandmother was my introduction to proper British beer; it was also delicious.

Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
