Sounds like you're not ready to buy a new watch at the moment. I kept wanting to get another tattoo but I couldn't decide what to get and where to put it. I finally got it a few months but I had to think on it for a couple of years. Don't buy something for the sake of buying something, especially if you're considering a more significant purchase. I can justify a sub-$200 impulse purchase, but anything over $500 requires some thought and coordination with the wife.
For the record, she is not at all a nag about my watch purchases; or any purchases. I pretend she is so I make smarter purchases and generally spend less money. I'm very impulse bu nature and she's taught me to wait for sales. This way, I make less expensive impulse purchases. She is ridiculously patient with me.
Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

Yeah, 3 hours put me in a spot where I either buy a pre-owned BB online (to reduce the financial hit if disappointed) or just pass. If I got serious about trying to buy something like an OP, it would be worth my time to drive down

You are correct. There were many impulse buys early on, then a resurgence. I went cold turkey for a few yesrs to make sure it was calmed.
Really want to buy something to celebrate a career milestone, but I am not going to force it. The only thing my Mrs. has ever said to me about my watch buying is that I should just buy something truly nice and stop piddling around. Odd as it may sound, she would rather me buy a Patek than a Seiko. I cannot let myself spend that much with one currently in college. I like to try to hold back for the unknowns

Went to my local AD last night to see what current models might grab my eye. Had the opportunity to gety hands on some Omega, Oris, & CFB models. CFB manero peripheral was intriguing....not $8k for a dying brand intriguing though. Was disappointed when he told me the peripheral automatic was a manual wind watch. The Deville were nice, but I prefer the non-pr model. That adds more cost than I care to justify.
They are proud to call themselves our local Rolex and Tudor AD....although "we do not have any Rolex display models and our Tudor models are found in a sister location [3 hours from here]." They hand banners for both brands on the sales floor, zero watches. Was interested in at least looking at a BB and some Rolex display models.
No Cartier, not an AD around to try on a Tank

I think we all been there. I know I have many times. I'm sure your time will come. Just enjoy what you have for now.

It’s funny, I’m the opposite. Those sub-$200 purchases are much harder to justify for me, because I know that I won’t wear them nearly enough to justify putting me even $200 further away from a watch I really do want to wear. Maybe my mindset is different, but once I have “best” watch or something that is most suited to me, I have a hard time not choosing to wear that watch. I just couldn’t envision reaching for an affordable watch over something already in my collection and it would take $200 away from getting something I do want.

Totally agree to Raza's point,I bought watches I though are cheap (ecozilla) but rarely wear it as it couldn't compete against my Panerai,JLC,Anonimo,Omega etc
Funny thing,I often wear my About Vintage 1899 even though it's also inexpensive (got it pre owned)

I kinda like these but not the price.
