    That was me.

I prefer less dressy dress watches and for me the white gold would get a lot more wear.

I like yellow gold - I'd happily rock a gold sub.

However, prefer white gold here. Voted.

Good point and part of what I'm looking for this watch.

Geoff any reason you prefer this in White gold?

Guess I was wrong it wasn't Raza.
    Cheers,

I voted white because of aesthetics, just looks better to me . . . . that said, if I ever decided to go for one, it'd be the black dial model.

Any reason? No. Not really. Especially cos I do like yellow gold. I asked my gf and she prefers the white gold here.

Maybe black dial I'd choose yellow gold?

The Rolex 1908 Survey Which Gold

Rolex does real white better than anyone. I don't even consider the option on a Rolex. If it was a GS then I might do black since they can't seem to do straight white and their gloss black dials are amazing.

For me the black on this ruins the look of either gold option. They are so polished that they disappear when dark object reflect on them (worse on White gold). The Black dial Explorer II does the same thing. Half the time you cant see the hands. I never understand how people say the black is more legible than the white if the hands and indexes always disappear yet it’s never happened in 12 years on the white Explorer II.

For me, the white gold is the clear choice and what I probably will buy when my father dies. I have a document dislike of yellow gold—I think the shade here that Rolex uses is too bright (at least in these photos) and loud, it takes away from the subtle beauty of the design. The white gold is quiet, it draws you in and has a conversation with you. The yellow gold shouts at you from across the room about how well its stock portfolio is doing. It’s a little too Goldman Sachs Elevator for me, a little too Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, a little too 1980s. I think it takes away from a stunning design.

Maybe had I seen it on its own, I wouldn’t feel as strongly about it, but when I see it next to the white gold, it really puts in contrast how loud it is. I agree with mlcor, if rose gold were an option, that would be a different conversation altogether, but in this comparison, the choice for me is clear and it’s not even a little bit close.

    Both are beautiful.

It takes a keen eye to notice the luster and sheen of white gold vs polished stainless steel. For me it might come down to this. If you don't want anyone to know it's a gold watch then wear the white gold. If that doesn't matter then wear the yellow gold.

It is close now. Not a fan of yellow gold personally. The white gold models just looks extraordinarily clean to me

While not a fan of yellow gold watches in general, there are some that, IMO, work quite well, and this is one of them.

Dressy watches mostly, and the contrast pops unlike the white gold version, which, again, IMO, makes it look pedestrian.
