One note, this is the only choice of watch brand snd model. I only want the Rolex 1908 regardless of what else is out there.

Usually not a fan of yellow gold, but in this case it seems more appropriate.

Despite the probability of lower resale value, I prefer the warmth and readability of the yellow gold. The white gold feels a bit bland or bleached in comparison, and the yellow does feel more period-appropriate.
Too many watches, not enough wrists.

If only considering the white dial then yellow would be my pick

Yellow. More distinguished, more appropriate for the era.
Plus, it doesn’t look like steel. There is some point in using platinum, but I can’t see the point of white gold.

Both are beautiful. I think you answered your own question when you said the yellow gold looks more traditional for this type of watch. I tend to agree.

My real answer would be rose gold, but since that's not an option, yellow gold for me, even though I'm not usually a fan of it. I think for this type of watch, white gold looks sort of washed out. It's why I got the rose gold when I had my Vacheron Patrimony (which I still miss sometimes).

Yellow gold. For the same reasons mentioned by others above.

There are two people who answered white gold. I'm pretty sure one is Raza, but not the other. I like to hear comments on the white gold choice.

Michael
