Next thing I need to find is a good CarPlay retrofit, but that can wait a bit. Especially if I can manage the existing phone integration just fine and if the navigation system interface is better than the one in my brother’s Audi (it shows way too much extraneous information; I’m using a satnav because I don’t know where I’m going and I’m trying to get there. I’m not sightseeing, I don’t need to know what every exit on the highway is if it’s not the one I’m supposed to take. I hate that so much).
Sweet.
I use a screen suction cap and Google maps on my mobile. Works great.

I’ve done low tech solutions like that in past, but if I can avoid having to have something there and having to run a charging cable out in the open, I would rather pay to have a retrofit installed (I have seen retrofit kits that are completely wireless too, not sure if that includes Qi charging) than deal with a mess of wires like I did for my previous cars. I hate that messy look in the cabin..

650, not sure on the BMW name for this one
Oyster M5
Bamboo M3, this wasn't my favorite, but it wore nicely. The new owner (my watchmaker) sent me a pic with bronze wheels and it looks great with that interior color.
Sorry I'm not a fan of any of those. I want something that is bolder like the brown, red, clay....Audi use to be the master of this, but has gotten a bit boring in the last decade. I can't say I've ever seen a color in a Mercedes other than the boring treo. Audi offer in the first models of TT an all green interior that only came with the green pearl metalic paint and matching green top. If they did not have the blue pearl metalic with blue top and the baseball leather seats that was my number two choice. I understand they only built about 100 of the blue ones so it was quite rare.
Mazda, Hyundai, Nissa and a few other Japanese and Korean brands are making some nice interiors. Probably the worst today is most trucks. Many just have black as the only option.
Back in the 70's we redid a Lancia that was a bright silver with red leather seats and a greenish brown carpet and dash. It sounds strange, but looked fantastic. I think it was a Beta model.

It's ok, we all have different tastes, it's what makes life interesting. I do agree that the 650 was boring, but that M5 with the blue/white was my favorite color combo. The only thing better is white outside/red guts. The M3 wasn't an exciting color, but the upgraded leather was high quality and wore in nicely - the car is 16 years old in the picture above. It was taken not long before I sold it.

I keep thinking that maybe, one day, BMW will figure out how cupholders work. They've always kinda... sucked.
Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

The cupholders in my Z4 are great. As long as you don’t put anything bigger than a 12oz can, take a few sips first, and don’t bump it with your knee when shifting hard.
