This is interesting and, from my brief research, looks almost therapeutic. Which I could use.

$1M question: what is a page, quantitatively (as in paper size, longhand density)? I'd say A5 or American Letter would be reasonable to assume as her standard? But then grid, lines? I tend to use 5mm grid line by line rather than every other line, so do I go three pages still or convert it to 1.5 pages?

Edit: Or maybe the simplest conversion, how many words, approximately?

The Statology notebook I use is A5. My printing tends to be large. I'm gonna guess 150 - 200 words per page?

    This strikes me as silly.

Yeah, maybe she wasn't familiar with all the line-wrapping sophistication.

I definitely do not shorten my writing to avoid flipping pages. Use multiple pages daily just for notes lol

Precisely. Moreover, it's not like A5 is microscopic. Not all that much smaller than letter sized.

Meantime, I experimented with writing roughly 750 words today in my "morning pages" notebook. It took me about 50 minutes. I don't know that I could sustain that time commitment as a daily practice.

My A5 page is 160-180 words.
I did, of course, briefly consider this as an excuse to explore the world of letter sized and/or A4 notebooks! I managed to pull myself back from the brink.

I did mine first MP entry today -- ~350 words in ~25-30 mins. I felt like doing more would be pushing it, wearing myself out and possibly being counterproductive. So I'll keep it at that and just focus on getting into the routine for a while, and only care about the volume if it increases naturally.

Here's my exchange with an "AI":

Me: how many words should a morning pages entry be on average?

AI: Morning Pages, a concept popularized by Julia Cameron in her book "The Artist's Way," typically involves writing three pages of longhand, which usually translates to about 750 words. However, the focus is more on the act of writing and the process of self-expression rather than a specific word count. The key is to write freely and without judgment, allowing thoughts and feelings to flow onto the page.

I think when I asked that earlier it also told me 'not to worry about the wordcount too much' or something in that vein. I'm totally choosing to trust the AI's judgement here.

I got two notebooks today, including my first ever dot grid, believe it or not.
